Architecture, Interior Design
Nash Waters is the Program Director and instructor at SIDT where he teaches technical skills through an integrative approach focusing on residential architecture and design.
Beyond his work at SIDT, Nash is the founder of Nash Waters Architecture based in New York City. While his work is diverse in program type and geographical locations, his projects consistently explore the way materials not only physically structure buildings, but perhaps more importantly, the way these materials structure space at the scale of the body and the scale of their larger environmental contexts.
Nash is a registered architect in New York, New Jersey, and Texas and received his Master's of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis. After graduating with honors and receiving the American Institute of Architects Certificate of Merit, Nash worked for award-winning architecture firms in New York City on a variety of prominent projects including public, educational, office, and residential along with a large scale master plan of a generative neighborhood. These diverse projects spread across the world, with locations in New York City, Toronto, Hyderabad, and Shanghai.
In addition to his professional practice, Nash has continued to be engaged in the academic community. While attending Washington University in St. Louis, Nash was a graduate teaching assistant for design studios and environmental systems courses while volunteering for the local Alberti Program: Architecture for Young People that included weekend design education courses with local elementary schools in the St. Louis area. More recently, Nash has been an invited guest critic for final reviews at Columbia GSAPP, NYIT, Washington University in St. Louis, and the University of Missouri-Columbia.
